KATUSHA ALPECIN extend contracts with Hollenstein and Restrepo

Team KATUSHA ALPECIN are happy to announce the contract extensions for Reto Hollenstein and Jhonatan Restrepo, both for one year through 2018.

Swiss rider Reto Hollenstein, age 31, came to the team in 2017, and has had a successful first year riding support for several leaders in the team, most notably his recent work in the Tour de France. Hollenstein’s dependability makes his efforts as precise as a fine Swiss clock. He placed 2nd in the Swiss National Championships (ITT) for both 2015 and 2016 and was also second on the GC in 2015 for the Baloise Belgium Tour.

“Reto was a real stroke of luck for the team,” said general manager José Azevedo. “Because of his strength, he has already taken on very important support roles for the team. Whether it is the spring classics or stage races, you can absolutely count on Reto.”

Restrepo, age 22 and born in Pácora, Colombia, came to KATUSHA ALPECIN as a trainee in 2015 and has continued to build his palmares during his first two years in the team colors. In the early part of 2017 he won the white jersey as best young rider in the Tour Down Under, was 4th in the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race and was second in the Vuelta Ciclista a la Región de Murcia.

“In the first months of the season, Jhonatan showed us his huge talent. But now he must work more on his consistency throughout the year. If he does, he will continue to give us great satisfaction in the future,” said Azevedo.
